I always like to read things that praise and thank, as opposed to belittle. You don't have to be a celebrity to affect people and make the world a little bit better, and this man obviously did just that.

    Good man.

I think of my own father. He's very ill now, but when he was younger he was one of the most supportive people I've known. I remember him decorating my bedroom when I was a kid... He'd made a start when my mum and me went out to go shopping.

When we came back after a few hours, he'd done the lot! It was Thunderbirds wallpaper... Vergil, Brains etc. on a blue background. He would do most of the cooking around the house, and wasn't afraid to 'look silly'... He had nothing to prove.

I owe him a lot. I would often still be in bed at 9am, but - at the weekend - I could hear him digging the garden. He liked to get up and do it while he still had the time.

I hear and see many broken men in New York City. Men who drink too much or beat upon their women and children.

Most of the men who had a hand in raising me did what they had to do. They went to work every day they were supposed to. They ate a lot of crap from their bosses to keep food on the table. They went to war when they were ordered to. And most importantly they told me the truth which prepared me for manhood.

Nowadays fathers are never given the respect that is due to them. They are just taken for granted and forgotten about.
