    Disable Num Lock Light

Is there a way, without taking apart my keyboard, of turning the num lock light off without turning num lock option off itself? It just seems like a waste of energy like TV standby lights.

I think there is a way to do it, but to be honest they are LEDs which use a ridiculously low amount of power. In all seriousness you could power one from an AA battery for about two weeks. You might be able to do some kernel hacking.

For what it's worth though, it's not the standby light that wastes electricity on the TV, it's keeping all of the electronics on low current to keep them ready.

I thought there was someway you could do it through your xorg.conf file (I don't know for sure). You might try Set Numlock Off By Default On A Suse 9.1 Laptop? - SuSE Linux Forums (for Suse 9.1, but still....)
