How's Gutsy Beta?
Just curious what the people using Gutsy beta think of it. I'm kinda curious if there are lots of last-minute changes going on, or if it is pretty damn "stable" at the moment. I've never had the guts
to run a beta on my computer before, but I figure maybe you guys could give us a sneak-peak. Thanks!

I am using Gutsy from day one. Its pretty stable now but you never know. Feisty release was delayed for two days because 3 major bugs were popped up on final update.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I don't completely agree with you. I've been using it since Tribe 4, and like all the new additions, but there's still a few bugs that need to be ironed out. For example, right now I can't install cupsys, and for that matter upgrade the system, because the package is broken. This is obviously expected from a beta release but nonetheless undesirable. Since Tribe 5, there has been a lot of package updates, and I expect there to be even more before they get to RC.
I also run Debian Testing on another system, and I have to say it's a lot more stable than this. Again, to be expected as Ubuntu stable is based on Debian unstable, so I can even imagine what Ubuntu unstable is based on (they definitely have some packages from experimental on there, like gnash 0.8.1 which I use)."Today you are freer than ever to do what you want, provided you can pay for it!" --Bad Religion

I'm running gutsy at the moment as well, but i don't really use it.
One day during the boot process it just stops and i see the loading code on my screen, i have to tell it to continue and start x or it will just stay like that.
So its not completely usable for me just yet, but aside from that it does look good so far. And what have you got to lose by trying it out.It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets.

This is slightly off topic, but anyone want to tell us their view on biggest changes in Gutsy (beside the normal new version of GNOME, kernel, firefox, etc...). Anything to get excited over or just a solid update?

I'm excited about the new intel graphics driver (version 2.2 I think) it'll have. My new laptop will actually be able to function properly

I haven't been able to use it really, Tribe 3 worked just fine but the rest begin to boot and then they just freeze, no way to get out, no way to get a console and all boot parameters I give don't work at all.
It just doesn't boot

I was wondering if someone else hates the darn tracker thing. It keeps reading my hard drive all time and uses about 20% of the processor... Is this behavior normal?
