YAY I lost my [Linux] virginity this moring!!!! 3hrs=)
For those of you that remember last week. I finally did it!!! I got linux installed and working =)
A couple months ago some1 gave me an old dell desktop (2000). A storm came thru and it quit working. I had no idea at the time why, but I didnt really care. So I decided take it apart. I have never seen the inside of a PC before. Other than use, I have not done much with a computer before.
Well that old dell laid spread across the floor for almost 2 months. Even had some parts in other rooms and in my truck. LOL. I woke up today looked over and thot "Can I get that running?" and "I wonder if I can use linux on that."
I spent the first 3 hours of today doing several things I have attemped to do before. I:
Built a computer,
Formatted a HD,
Partitioned a HD,
Installed an OS,
Used linux.
Also I backed up my laptop, first time ever to do a back up.
As near as I can tell (It was my first time after all.) everything thing was a complete success.
=), Just wanted to share my first EXPes with all yall.

Congratulations, but I added [Linux] to clarify the title. I wasn't really sure what kind of thread this was going to be at first.

Congratulations, and a proper welcome to the forums! That's a lot of work there and it's addictive getting that feeling after you accomplish. Careful now or it'll stick

Congrautilations, hope you like it and enjoy it. My first was a good-looking geko, good experience but nothing too special. I've had better since
