Linux is getting so good!!
My old Dell flat CRT bit the dust just yesterday after about three years of service. I saw where Aldi had Medion 19 inch Flat Panel LCD's for $169.00 so I bought one this morning.
Using Crux, I was all set for a week of late night coffee, X errors and trial and error changes to my xorg.conf.
Now this computer has Ubuntu Fiesty, Slackware 12 and Crux 2.3 all on the hard drive so I hooked up the monitor with the new fancy-shmancy DVI-D connector from my Nvidia 7300 LE and decided to fire up Ubuntu first. Wham! perfect. No configuration necessary. Next Slackware. Same result.
I just knew I couldn't be that lucky with Crux.
To my complete surprise, the monitor works perfectly in Crux 2.3 with no configuration necessary!
Compared to the headaches we Linux users went through just trying to configure a mouse back in 2002, it's amazing to see something like this happen.
