    Talking In Search of Psychedelic desktop environment..

    Does anyone know if there is any application that would add another layer above everything on a desktop environment. Something that could loop images or do things like gimp toys?

    I can see Beryl doing this but I haven't found anything like it in the Beryl Manager.

    I don't know of anything that can do it for sure.

    If compiz-fusion can't do it, I wonder if there's anything built into Enlightenment that could do it? It's capable of some pretty fancy eye-candy, but I don't know if it could be taken apart and just certain components used.

    When Compiz first hit the scene there was a script called xwinwrap that allowed you to run OpenGL as your desktop background. Any GL screensaver or polygons could run in the back though it was kind of intensive on the system. Compiz now has some plugins for running an aquarium or glxgears in the centre of the cube. Is this what you're getting at or am I close at all?
