Ah, the "life" question. That is a good question to bring up among friends for a long never-ending debate. My opinion, I believe that we were created, rather by God -as I believe- or another being as others may believe. The scientific theory is retarded. I do not believe we evolved from some goo, fish, lizard, monkey, or whatever, and managed to become what we are now. I've seen things like this on the discovery channel.
Evidence that we were created by a higher being is all around us. Look at us for example, we are walking machines in a sense. Nearly everything we are made of and how we function can be compared to machinery and "robots" that mankind has created. Our eyes function as cameras. We have voice-boxes to communicate, ears to receive transmission from others. Arms with five digits on each to manipulate objects. Legs and feet to move about. A higher being created us. Even nature itself (animals, insects, trees) has a purpose. Has been "programmed" to do certain jobs to maintain balance.
Our brain stores memory and processes thoughts just as the computer you are typing on. Mankind is repeating something that has already been done. And that is recreating ourselves in a sense. Not out of flesh, but out of metal. Not with veins and tissue, but with wires and plastic. I've seen Japan create walking robots that can learn and even walk down staircases, I'm sure you've all seen it. That five feet tall white robot by Nissan or whatever the hell.
I believe everything has a beginning. Even if scientist say that the universe was create by some big bang, some giant rock that blew up. Okay, but where did that giant rock come from? Even nothingness has to be created. Please, there is a higher being, which would be God. I don't go to church like others do (and I should) but I believe I'm part of somethings or someone's plan and creation, not an accident. Scientist will never prove where we came from because the deeper they dig the closer they will come back to the fact that everything was created.
I could talk about this for a while, but I'm gonna stop now.

Let's keep to the original question people.
"Are we alone in the universe"
Let's not discuss how we were created or where life came from.
If this topic turns into that it will be locked.
As we don't allow religious discussion on this board. How to know if you are a geek.
when you respond to "get a life!" with "what's the URL?"

You're right, sorry for the ramble.
Do I think that we are alone? All religion to the side, I have to say that I do not think that we are alone. The universe is way to huge, or, infinite for all we know. Maybe the future will be similar to Star Trek.

Sorry, but I'm gonna go ahead and lock the thread, because it's too tempting for some to bring their religious beliefs into it. Don't get me wrong, as I'm religious myself, but religious discussions most often turn into heated battles on global boards like this, so let's stop this one before it goes any further. It was fun while it lasted.
Thanks for all your comments.
