Your Favourite Distro
There are lots of distros nowadays and all are progressing fast at least since my first linux experience. Which is the best distro? Is Sabayon good? Which of the distros come with lots of software? Have heard Kubuntu comes with a pretty fast KDE. Is that true?

I use Simply Mepis 6.5 which is a derivitive of Ubuntu.
If you are looking for a faster Ubuntu variant it might be worth looking into
Xubuntu which uses the lighter weight XFCE desktop environment.
Being lighter, it has to be faster...If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)

i played around with this for fun seeing how small i could get it. basically making your own distro without all the complexity of LFS or making your own distro;

I've been using Ubuntu, and really like it. If you are new to Linux, I think it's one of the best options for you.

Ozar, not to dream of getting Debian, 12 GB is out of my imaginations! I am downloading Kubuntu since a week but only 1.28 GB. My internet balance is running out. Can we request free CDs other than Ubuntu and its family?
Can you also please tell which DE Edubuntu uses?"When you have nothing to say, say nothing."

My favourite distro changes with every release season. This time around it's Ubuntu Gutsy. It had been SUSE for a while but I really feel like they've dropped the ball on a few things, despite the fact that it does have some cool stuff and is pretty well polished.
I love Slax too and I'm looking forward to 6.0. In the last few years I have become very consumer oriented. I don't ever give a product my support that doesn't deserve it. Whatever has the best experience today will get my vote, I refuse to use something because of past glories.
So after all of that I use SUSE 10.3 on my main PC and Ubuntu on my laptop. I'll be carrying Slax 6.0 on my USB stick when it comes out.
