i feel betrayed by microsoft
at the beginning of this semester, i was given the opportunity to have access to free software, such as xp professional, vista business, and a handfull of other costly microsoft programs. i registered for serial keys of xp and vista, formatted my hdd, and installed vista on my computer using my friends dvd. its been fun, and i needed visual studio for my c++ class, but my hardware is starting to bore me.
so, now that i want to upgrade my junk and build a new rig, i realize that i cant 'port' over the os. im really glad it was free and i didnt have to actually pay for it...im actually starting to look forward to going back to linux, and im pretty excited about trying fedora core 7. hopefully ill be able to play wow and write small programs that have similar syntax to those written in visual studio on the compiler thats on it.
dunno just thought i would rant...microsoft=money=root of all evil=devil.

This sounds like a good oportunity to rant a little
I actually sell Microsoft software for a living (it pays the rent) and had a customer complain to me today because he loaded a "Vista Premium" sample disc over his basic Vista, after the trial period expired, the operating system locked and would not allow him to use his computer without "Purchasing Vista Premium" I was on the phone with Macrosuck for an hour trying to get this straightened out. Of course this got me no-where because aparently that was how the trial disc was supposed to function. I should have given him a live CD. oh well, water under the bridge

Hmm, dunno if you know it but it's not allowed to make religious or political postings on this board. But if you're gonna quote the bible, get it right...
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." 1 Timothy 6:10.
I certainly don't love Microsoft, but I don't hate them either. I'm quite fond of them because they make Linux look good.Linux user #126863 - see http://linuxcounter.net/

I hate them because of how they do business now... Yeah, the OS is included in the price of the computer. Oh, what's that? You want Microsoft Office because that's what you're used to? That will be another $150 for the basic... Oh, you need a database program? Well we don't sell it by it'self, but you can buy this office package that has it and a bunch of other crap you'll never use for $350. Oh, and by the way, after about 2 years we're going to start randomly telling people their version of Windows is no longer valid and they have to send us $250. If you're lucky you might be one of them.
Two levels higher than a newb.
