    Very Hot News

    Hi Linux lovers .

Well this morning i got a nice news wish makes me fell good all the day , i think all of you now IATA , the international air transport company, it's a big company and they have agencies it almost all the country, so the big one is in Geneva (today is not off in Swiss) , i have a friend works for them there , and he called me this morning telling me the following .

All the Windows Computers servers were affected by a Virus , the only one servers/computers remaining in the company in Geneva are running SuSE Linux

the professional windows consumers in this company are trying to recover at least the important Data without any luck , the decision have been made today to change all the servers to Linux to avoid future problems of security . the company will loose a lot of money because of this problem .

So some assembler lines of this Virus kills more than 100 windows computers

    Regards.

I've been unable to confirm this story. I'd absolutely love a link to send to my windows fanboy "mates".

Well you right such news should be confirmed from a local newspaper at least (i believe it'll ) i though to contact the CERN computing newspaper (where i work CERN Computer Newsletter ) but i don't want to make problems to my friend .

Also MCAFE now is in charge of cleaning the infected computers , they send three solutions without any luck .

Hope i can get the proof soon

I'm telling this just because to make fun of the company but because if you google this

linux is more secure than windows

you'll get the other way round, ( propaganda) , almost the 20 first articles written by M$ of by it's lovers says

is Linux is more secure than windows !!! The real story .

all these articles are bull **** , so it's a simple proof .

You're getting into a very grey area here. You must be careful not to claim that everything you say is true and anything that disagrees is propoganda.

We must all also be careful not to weigh up one anectodal story as the final, sealing proof, particularly when there are many sources of evidence available. But, at the same time, we must also utterly discount any company's claims of security based on research they paid for themselves to 'prove' matters in their favour.

Most people on here will have experience of both Microsoft operating systems and Linux operating systems, and will already have formulated their own opinions about the security of each.

For me, I'll never plug one of my own Windows workstations into the internet without some kind of physical firewalling device between the machine and the internet. I'd have no hesitation about plugging an freshly installed Linux machine into it, though.
