Any good hardware websites
Does anyone know of any good websites that sell only linux compatible hardware?
Maybe a website that sells hardware itself like newegg, or a website that links to websites like pricewatch.

i don't think there is really. there are sites that sell prebuilt PC's with Linux but non that sell only Linux compatible hardware. what i do is when i want a device i look at its ratings on new egg and look for Linux customers among it then i look for that device on Google and look for Linux references forums etc that have had dealings with that device. its more work but well worth it in the end.

There are really only certain things that give trouble with Linux, and even those you can usually get working to some degree.
Up until now the rule has been avoid ATI, use Intel or Atheros WiFi and don't use a USB modem. Now ATI have opened their specs so that will probably change and almost any WiFi card can run using Ndiswrapper. Just avoid those USB modems.
With that said, if you don't game just buy an all Intel system. They work really well and can completely suspend and resume without trouble.

In the UK, there is Efficient PC who focus on
providing systems with Linux pre-installed. Or if you are like me - with no OS!If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

I know of ways to get compatible hardware. I was just interested in a site for convenience and reliability. I have bought hardware before with doing some research and still had a difficult time getting stuff to work.
I also thinks sites that only list open source friendly hardware, or had a filter, would encourage companies to pay more attention to making their products open source friendly.
if no one knows of any sites like I described then I think I will start one. it would probably be a site that links to products on seller's websites. maybe have a ratings system for compabitibility and ease of setup.
Any comments on such a website is appreciated. would anyone use such a site?

Surely somebody has a list of Linux compatible devices, seems a very useful database to have.

I've been looking for such a list. I've found TuxMobile and Linux on Laptops, but they only list laptops, and they just have a bunch of links to other sites of people telling how they got them to work, what they had to do, etc. So it has ones that don't work too, and it would be difficult to look through all of them to try to find some that work. :/ I've found that the easiest thing to do is just to go try to find something that you like, then consult <Linux> - Google Search to see if anyone is having problems with it.

I just found Hardware4Linux, but it is still pretty new and incomplete.

It'd be something I'd support... I'm not sure I like what system they have going though...

I checked out that hardware for linux site. It is interesting, but I am looking for a store or site that links, shows prices, and has quality and compatibility reviews.
If i were to make such a site is their anyone here who would contribute to it? Any features you would like to see in that site? I am just trying to see if their is enough demand for such a site before investing my time in it. Also i think it would be nice if the stores that sell linux compatible products would back them up with a return policy if something is not very compatible.
