i m new to linux. i just bought a laptop with unbuntu preinstalled. i m really interested in linux development. please help me as of where shud i start from for development. i have some basics of unix and c/c++.

Welcome to the forums!
If you are interested in helping develop Linux distributions, you should probably start by helping with your favorite distribution. If that distro has their own forums, just join there, begin posting, and show a sincere interest in helping with development.
If you have the skills needed, they'll likely snatch you up right away.
