I went all out today...new Linux Laptop

I bought a new Laptop today, wiped Windows XP off of it and installed Ubuntu Linux on it.

    It's all downhill from here.

Anyways, just letting you all know I am now balls deep into the Linux world. I still have my desktop computer running XP, but my Laptop will be dedicated to Linux. Makes more sense to run Linux on my laptop since I am not developing windows software outside the home and will only be doing email, maybe a little graphics work etc. But I hope to start programming for Linux, never done that before. Been programming Mac/Windows since 1998 so it'll be an experience. I've seen a lot of Linux code when porting applications written for Linux to other platforms so I should get a handle on it pretty quickly.

    Alright then, peace.

erabyss, ya my laptop isn't liking Linux as much as I do. I will probably reinstall Windows XP and have it setup for Dual-Boot or buy a small external Hard Drive with Windows (except this BIOS doesn't support USB device booting). Anybody know if I can update the BIOS to support USB booting?

I think Linux needs time to adapt.

I have learned that I must be very patient with Linux.

At the end, the results are pleasing.

HAHA, I am glad to hear I am not alone here. Sound is the 2nd biggest reason I have for not making the full leap to a linux only system. The biggest being that I ... well I dont know. I am a new user but Im falling hard for it.

Why do people have such a problem with sound?
