    Topologilinux?

I found a distribution called Topologilinux and was wondering if anybody here has tried it and what they think of it.

Apparently you can install it over Windows without partitioning, and boot Windows AND Linux at the same time without emulation with one processor.

It looks very cool. It's based of Slackware which gives me confidence on the Linux side of things. I just want to know how well it functions, how safe it is to install and such...

I am downloading it right now and will be installing it on my Windows laptop. It is almost 2gb so I need to go out and get a pack of writable DVDs.

Looks like its just a Software Package that has a qemu and Slackware installed.
I think that the installation does nothing more then install qEmu with Slackware..
I dont think its something great.

    Well, good luck with it

    Cheers,
    Robin

I've never tried it myself so don't know much about it, but it's not brought up very often on these forums, so it's apparently not all that popular.

Either that, or it's just that nobody has any issues with it.

Um, did you go to the website at all? It doesn't even have qEmu installed. It doesn't even emulate (did you read my post where I stated that it doesn't emulate?). Like I said, it actually BOOTS Linux while Windows is running. There is a new Kernel that allows Linux to boot while Windows' is already booted and running. Read the website. Look at the screenshots, you have actual Linux windows IN Windows XP that act just like XP windows but look like Linux windows and are actual Linux applications being run.

It looks freaking awesome! I have 1.3gb downloaded so far. Only a little left and then it's off to buy some blank DVDs to burn it onto for the install!

    Yea, ok Ive seen it.
I dont trust it. Since something has been done with the windows kernel..
Thats not-save since the Windows Kernel isnt OpenSource. I really think something of Emu is running.
And else Id like to have Linux as Host system and Windows as Guest.

    But good luck with it

It doesn't edit the Windows Kernel. It uses a separate Kernel that allows a simulatneous boot.

Mac OS X had something like that. It allowed you to run Mac OS 8.x - 9.x in a separate window. Only difference is it booted it in a semi-virtual machine so all the windows were in an MDI-like container window similar to VirtualPC or qEmu except this one wasn't emulated and VPC/qEmu are.

So offence but you arnt a Programmer right?
Since what you say is quite posible.
But what Appel did was Edit there Kernel so It could support that.
They must have edited the Windows Kernel to it could support that aswell.
As I know the Windows Kernel a little I know it doesnt allow other Processes on the level.
You'll get a lot of error since the Windows Kernel (If I recall correctly) doesnt work Full Duplex. It sends and waits for a return. So well, good luck with Topo.
I just gave you my 2 cents

I am a programmer, but only recently on Windows and Linux.

Take those 2 cents and invest it in some time to research Topologilinux for yourself before you start arguing with me. I read the entire website. How about you? If it edits the Kernel, then it does it in memory and therefore is safe and the worst that can happen is a system crash. Then you just uninstall Topologilinux and everything is fine. That is assuming that it patches the kernel at all.

I did read the website. But when a comercial tells me something I aint going to belive it 100%.
Witha prgorammer I ment a Kernel-Level programmer. (Assembler or P-ROM) but I dont want to have this discussion with you this might turn into Flaming + Trolling from both sides so I think its best to just keep it at this point and I let you be happy with Topo. And you let me be happy with not believing in it.

    Cheers,
    Robin
