    New Member introduction

Hey, they said the lounge is where ya say hi..

I have been using dedicated servers for a while, but have finally decided to build a server, install linux from a kernel (not use a distro) and then colocate it.

I have set up a project page and always welcome anyone who wants to add comments to the page.

Rigth now I am in the first stages of deciding on equipment for it.....then it is on to the linux install.

It is going to be a webserver and not a home unit or part of a business network.

If you need info as a newbie or want to help as a 'linux old man' just send a mail or add comments...

    Thanks

    project page is here

    Happy holidays everyone

    wow....that was fast.

I added a thread to the server forums...and deleted asap...

yikes. I guess they thought I was advertising something with my server project (no ads, no links to any sites, just a project page)...

looks like this may not be the place to post for help...lol

thread deleted...wow...and all it was about was building a server from scratch.

oh well....there are other forums with linux server helpers, guess i will try them

    thanks for the hellos...and goodbye I guess...lol

floridaserver, I wouldn't take it personally... Whoever deleted the thread you are referring to did so because of very strict rules we have about certain types of threads, that's all. I'm sure you didn't realize you might have crossed the line on one of them.

    Welcome to the forums!

Sorry, but duplicate posts aren't allowed on the forums, and you've already announced your server project in this thread. Please refer to the forum rules regarding duplicates:

    http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/lin...ums-rules.html

There probably are some forums that allow duplicates, but I'm not sure who they are.

Only Core Wizard, the board admin, has the forum permissions needed to delete accounts. Sorry I can't help with that.

    Good luck with your project.
