What's the big deal about Gmail? 1GB storage space? Can't you just store arbitrarily large amounts of data on your hard drive and use an FTP server? It still has a pretty meager size limit for incoming mail, doesn't it?

Don't forget the fact that they archive all of you email (even if you delete it) for an indefinate period of time. Using this, they tailor ads to your personality by using the same technology as the google ads on the bottom of this page: searching the material.

I love google. I use the search engine on average about 15 times a day. But this Gmail has a horrible "big brother" invasion of privacy feel. Personally, I want to have the final say about what happens to my email. If I want it deleted, I can shred that file on my HDD.

Absolutly.. I will not be useing gmail because of the total lack of privacy of any kind whatsoever. Here is something you may or may not find interesting:
