Need of tip in burning CD iso

I'm having a friend try to burn a cd from a iso file to amke a bootable RAM linux CD. These are the ones you can run linux from a CD without making a dual boot CD and also goto any PC and see/run the basics. I can't tell you the type because I'm not at work at the moment.

what I could use are a few tips on are burning a iso file into as the distro CD and not another iso file. Special settings to verify, trying other burner software to use (CD Clone....) etc... The burner is on a Win98 machine.

If it works, I can practice my cmd line from anywhere and start to look at the gui side of linux (never used it, very scary for me)

    Thanks for any idea's
    Dan

Just use nero or any other burnign software that can burn iso images

they will burn as a bootable cd as long as the image is of a bootable cd.

I regularly burn RH iso's to cd (use the file > burn image section in nero) and these then ha[ppily boot from cd

I wrote this for www.virtual-linux.org... in regards to burning using nero.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

How do I burn Linux using Nero??

Okay...... here's how I do it with Nero and the Wizard option.

Open Nero......Choose wizard if it doesn't default to that.

    Choose:
    Compile a New CD
    Data CD
    Compile a new data-CD
    Finish

Then at the top LEFT corner of your screen choose the FILE option....it drops a box down for you to choose from......choose BURN IMAGE

On mine (I have 2 versions of Nero) I have to change the FILE TYPE at the bottom from the default to either ALL FILES or .ISO

Then I find my .iso file with the browse button and hit enter........ remember to set your burn speed at about 1/2 of what your disk is rated for. You will make less coasters that way

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    Hope that helps.

I just finished doing this for the first time about a week ago.
    All I did was:

    1. Obtain Nero.
    2. Install Nero.
    3. File > Burn Image > Select .iso file.
    4. Put a blank CD-R in drive.
    5. Burn.
