Thanks Mike, it's Avant Window Navigator (AWN). I've found it to be very stable, quite functional and very easy on the eye. The downside is it requires Compiz or similar to run but it is OpenGL accelerated and runs very smoothly. If you like docks at all I'd recommend it.

AHH, thanks bigtom, I avoid using Compiz because it just slows my machine down too much. I will be getting a new machine sometime soon, and I will want to have this, it's very nice.

Ok, I change my desktop as much as I change my mind. I went back to KDE-3.5 because well, I love it.

Attached (hopefully) are a couple of screenshots (clean and busy) for my shiny new Hardy Heron desktop.

Desktops littered with icons and mounted drives annoy me, but I don't like to waste any space -- thus a desktop with an embedded gnome-terminal, a system monitor, and an IP screenlet.

Ok, I posted rant/opinion/ bunch of hot air about installing BlueWhite64
in order to get a feel for the Slackware way of doing things. Here's the
desktop; it's all KDE 3.5.9


Just for comparison, here's my Debian desktop. It's Debian Sid, pure 64-bit, and just bare-bones KDE 3.5.9

It's Vector 5.8 SOHO I believe. But my current machine looks alsmost exactly the same. Just more RAM, more processing power and a more recent OS.

But specially now I have 1GB RAM I boot into every app I frequently use. No point having such a huge amount of RAM if I don't use it to the fullest. This idea I stole from Metisse, the 9-desktops organising all running applications. It also allows me to align maximized applications on my wide screen so that I can keep an eye on system processes.

I can honestly say I like every shot on this page! I'd be hard pressed to choose a favourite as there is a lot to like in each. I'd be proud to have any of them! Very nice screens guys!
