I voted for Mepis as it has always just worked for me.

suse linux 10.3
I don't see how anything can beat suse linux 10.3. I have never had a problems with it.
When I installed suse 10.3 it just about installed by it self and I have not tried any other favor of linux.
Now if I could just figure out this terminal stuff lol

I had to go with Debian! It was what I started out with a few years ago (this was before Ubuntu) and I still use it today. Even the Testing branch is a lot more stable than Ubuntu, and that's what new users need.
With time I've learned to stay away from RPM based distros since I've never had luck with them, except Mandriva, which is would have to be my number two choice."Today you are freer than ever to do what you want, provided you can pay for it!" --Bad Religion

I voted for Other... in my case Wolvix. It's the first distro I've ever actually used properly. Installed easily, is fast, nice selection of software (without too much bloat) and has been running on my laptop for nearly six months now.
It's also got a small but helpful comunity where no questions go unanswered. Wolvix GNU/Linux
It's really well designed in both appearence and in terms of just having what you need (esp the little things like wireless support, codecs, all the plug-ins for firefox ect)
