OpenSUSE 11 is a practical solution in server fields. CLI or GUI, not difference. All is ready and easy to install and use. Just scale it....

I use CentOS and have been very happy with the servers that run it. I'll never use Fedora for a server again simply due to the short support cycle. It makes the lambs cry. Totally dig it for my PC, though.

    thanks,

    Aloof linux user #whatever.

I tested off the charts for MENSA. Unfortunately, it was off the wrong end of the chart.

Zenwalk - formerly known as minislack, a fork of slackware. some circles are beginning to acknowledge it as it's own entity, though.

I am currently running my home server on CentOS - this is so I can get a bit mor familiar with the RHEL 4 servers where I now work. Everything is in different places compared to Debian / Ubuntu

Anyway so far I like it but I don't think it will get on to my desktop
I need a new signature. This one is boring!

My blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Setting up a LAMP server with Ubuntu was really easy with all the information and instructions easily found on the Internet. So far it's been working perfectly with no apparent problems. I've been very happy with it.

I think RHEL/CentOS if fine for the desktop, but you end up with older versions of most packages. I think its similar to running Debian Stable where the package versions are quite old. Its not a bad thing if you want a stable platform.
