I like it. I like it a lot!
The time has come for some one to bully the bullies.

I am just an old know-nothing but I fail to see the wisdom of this guy shooting his mouth off just four days into his new job.

Well, you're always stronger on the defense. But it's good the FOSS movement shows it's teeth. I for one am getting a little tired of all those Microsoft allegations that pop up frequently. If those guys in Redmont would just build Operating Systems I'd have no grudge against them whatsoever. But they rather build a hegonomy, as they have done from their start. Open letter to hobbyists?? Xerox' GUI?? Apple?? Halloween documents?? Undisclosed patent violations?? Take your pick, there's plenty...
Even if there was MS code in the kernel (which I doubt) I still would have no way of knowing this, because MS code is proprietary and closed source. And therefor I haven't got the choice to evade their works. I have no way of knowing which of their patents I violate because they wont disclose them. Isn't that ironic?? I'd have to brake the law (ie hack MS code) to make sure I comply with the law (no MS code on my machine). **
Anyone who forces them to play honest and fair has my backing. And justice for all...
EDIT: Sorry 'bout the rant
____
**Don't worry Redmont, I wont be hacking your code. I have trouble enough writing in Perl

I agree with this ... but I think the CEO statement may end up being over-confidence. I would like to see a number of software vendors put in their place but giving them notice you are going to have a go at doing so makes the task much more difficult. Stealth may have been a better approach.

Well Jonathan the 183th
, we agree. That is why the first sentence I used was "You're always stronger on the defense". I'm never for going full out. It's not the gentlemans approach. If you play DnD you know only Barbarians and Paladins charge, the rest acts sensible. We respectfully call them 'Chaotic Stupid' and 'Lawful Stupid'...
But your post intrigued me, what did you mean when you said 'stealth'??Can't tell an OS by it's GUI

Well, he is making his intentions known. Oracle for a long time now have been bad mouthing Red Hat and even created a fork of RHEL because they thought they could do things better than Red Hat. The main issue seems to be that Red Hat bought JBoss which competes in certain areas with Oracle.
