Hey all,
Brand new to this forum and basically new to linux, have used it a few times mostly for recovery but I have used it for fun here and there. I use XP home right now with no problems just maight want to switch for the complexity and fun and the fact that it is as good or better than windows for a much better price, you can never beat free
. Although it might be a new adventure it might not work because of the many things that I do on my pc. So that is why I'm here, is there a linux add on, or something like that, to run programs such as publisher, photoshop, vegas movie studio, cool edit pro and others??? Or are there equvilant softwares to these that run on linux??
Of course there is always the option of daul booting but it seems to me that I might as well spend my time doing what I need to do rather then learn another OS since I don't really need it. But the adventure is really calling.

Welcome to the forum and to Linux. There's a thread we set up with answers to the most common new user questions here:
http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/lin...ead-first.html
There is a program called WINE as well as a commercial offshoot of it called Crossover Office that might let you run these programs. The keyword there is "might", since running MS Windows software on an OS for which it was never intended is always a hit and miss affair.
Possibly. See the "Table of Equivalent Windows/Linux Programs" link in the thread above. Good luck and have fun.Or are there equvilant softwares to these that run on linux??Registered Linux user #270181
