w00t first LFS system
Just finished installing my first linux from scratch system, works pretty well only takes up 700 mb of disk space, even installed lynx and openssh server after. Did this all on a vmware virtual machine since i couldn't risk messing up my work computer, but it wasn't too bad to get it all done anyway.

Interesting...
How much time did it take?
How come it's 700mb, do you have gui?

no GUI, only took me like a week doing it between work tasks, i didn't strip any debugging symbols, so that adds over 100m, i installed everything in the guide
edit: just deleted /tools (i forgot to) freed up 150mb lol, down to just over 500M now

I remember that experience, took me two tries and a week! I then got tired of having to compile everything and deleted it 3 or 4 weeks later. Then I thought I'd like to do it again, this time it only took 2 days (1 day for /tools and 1 day for /), but I got tired of compiling and deleted it, again.

One thing I have to say is that it was very rewarding! I now have no problem with compiling any software.
I've been toying with the idea of doing DIY-Linux, which is sort of a fork of LFS but with less instructions, putting the emphasis on you a little more, it also assumes you're installing a package manager, so you can update more easily."Today you are freer than ever to do what you want, provided you can pay for it!" --Bad Religion

Now you will be seeing the superiorness of LFS!
