I have the Win 2000 partition at 3GB,

and the Ubunto partition at 7 GB.

I hope to use this system for databases, such as Oracle.

My laptop I use for development such as C++, and unix administration

well i want to start by congratulating you and correct your spelling at the same time. its Ubuntu with a u at the end. installing oracle is tricky on Ubuntu so you will have to do some digging. My office mate is playing with different distros and installing Oracle on them. mainly because he is learning to become a DBA in some classes he is taking. there were some tricky caveats. also if you plan on installing oracle make sure you also create a static IP address because oracle installations can get goofy if you are on dynamic ip and for some reason the dhcp changes the ip. you will have to completely install it over.
