    UNetbootin

I saw this on Linux.com and thought it might be useful for people with no CD-R, or with no disks to burn.
    From the website
UNetbootin allows for the installation of Ubuntu (and official derivatives) (7.10, 7.04, 6.10, 6.06 LTS, and upcoming 8.04 LTS), Fedora (8, 7, and Rawhide), openSUSE (10.3, 10.2, and Factory), CentOS (5.1), Debian (Stable/Etch, Testing/Lenny, and Unstable/Sid), ArchLinux (2007.0, Frugalware Linux (Stable, Testing, and Current), Foresight Linux (1.4.2), Damn Small Linux (4.2.4), VectorLinux (5.9), Mandriva (2008.0 and 2007.1), and Slackware (12.0) to a real partition, so it's no different from a standard install, only it has the advantage that it needs no CD. It can thus be used to either create a standard dual-boot install, or replace the existing OS entirely with GNU/Linux. This is meant for people who want to install a Linux distribution but don't have a CD-R to burn, lack a CD writer, or they want to install on a computer that doesn't have a CD-ROM drive, like an ultra-portable laptop

I used this once to install mandriva 2008, and it worked perfectly. Though i did not have the option to custom select what packages i wanted to install, i just had to choose gnome or kde and all the defaults were installed.

    Very Cool!
I was wondering if anyone had used it yet. I might use it next time I install a new Distro. Sounds like it might be a time saver.

    It works

I use it with chakra-project (live arch distro) and it apparently only works with alpha 1. Rumor is that it won't seem to work with alpha 2... or at least not with session save.

I can even install packages and keep persistence, although one could just use it to install from. It is very fast (I have done this too).
