    Absolute Linux

I've been keeping an eye on this one for a little while now. It's almost as if they were trying to create a special variant of Slackware just for me! Has anyone else tried it? Absolute looks to be a good one to consider for older hardware. I like this quote:
Absolute does not change how Slackware works, it just makes it easier and faster. Desktop oriented, as opposed to a server machine.
I think I'm going to have to check it out.

definitely an improvement over Slackware, i like it. I dont currently use it but I tried a while back and had moderate success and it overcame some of the shortfalls I had with Slackware. There still were things I didnt like about it because it was based on Slackware. the init scripts are what I am talking about.

I have never used it, but what are it's advantages over, lets say, something like VectorLinux, or even DeLi Linux? The 128MB RAM and Pentium II (they say less would be painful) requirement for Vector is exactly the same... and for DeLi the requirement is even less (486 and 16MB RAM). I guess, feature for feature, it would be better to compare it to DeLi, but even then it runs in so much older/less capable hardware.

Ok, I am confused. Why is there a minimum requirement of RAM for Linux when you could partition 128 GB of SWAP if you really wanted to (and had the hard drive for it)?
    Using Linux since June 2007
    Distros: Mint 12
    SPECS: AMD Atholon 64 X2 5400+, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800 GTS

Would you do the same in Windows? Or MacOS? Swap is virtual memory, not actual memory and its performance is nowhere near as good as physical RAM.
