I've had a Yahoo Account since 1997 I will be very upset if they change ANYTHING with my yahoo account. Usually when Microsoft buys something I am not all that upset about it. However I am very upset with MS trying to purchase Yahoo. I am sure it will end up the same as when they took over hotmail, thats a mess.

I can envision " No Internet Explorer =s No Yahoo Mail " as well as twice the ads and twice the popups and crap over crap over crap. I think I need to open more Gmail accounts.

I'm glad to see, that MS have lost its mind again. Yahoo is a losing horse. I'm using Google for web browsing since ages, and though I have my Yahoo mail account, I could move easily to other "free" providers

I really hope Microsoft does not spread themselves too thin. They should really work on the core product lines that they excel at. I'm not talking operating systems, but they make the best mice I have ever used. I almost always have an intellimouse sitting by my model m
.
Microsoft should move all of their focus on their mouse, and possible other peripheral, lines. When they try to focus on things such as operating systems, productivity software, e-mail, search technology, etc. they can hardly compete (except of course economically), but if they would focus on what they DO do well, then maybe we can even appreciate them more.
Why don't they just buy logitech? Not that yahoo is that great...Operating System: GNU Emacs

I use my Konqueror browser for my main yahoo email account because very few ads reach my screen. The only drawback is I can not reply to any email. If I need to reply to yahoo email I use Opera or Mozzilla.
I wish some Linux enthusiasts would set up a new search engine and email service with users in mind instead of advertizers.
Well I am now prepared anyway with new Gmail accounts if the turd hits the fan with Yahoo.

i have been seeing some industry trade people foaming at the mouth and saying its going to change the face of the web blah blah blah. there is always this buzz around them but they never deliver just come out with other buzz to not deliver. when will the tech media learn there is nothing spectacular about Microsoft any more they are a dying ship.

To quote Loews Joe Rosenberg: " The merger doesn't make sense. "
Mr. Rosenberg likens this merger to two other disasters: Xerox's billion dollar purchase of Scientific Data Systems in 1969 and AT&T's $7.5 billion dollar purchase of NCR in 1991 where the acquiring company paid top dollar for firms whose products and technology rapidly became obsolete.
Other finacial so called gurus are also questioning the wisdom of Microsoft wanting Yahoo.
Personally, I still have my very first email address in microsoft's hotmail but hardly get any mail in it now and never use it to send anything.
I did not like the changes that Yahoo recently made to my Yahoo email, especially the hassles to get into my address books.
Maybe microsoft just wants access to all of the email addresses Yahoo now possesses. I do not even remember the last time I searched for something using yahoo, it was so many years ago.
I could be wrong but I think that this takeover is just going to stamped people into using Gmail exclusively.
