Thumbs up Minty Fresh: Better Than Ubuntu it's Linux Mint

Linux Mint isn’t new, version 4.0 Daryna was released in November 2007, but I installed it for the first time yesterday and here are my first impressions.

    • Based on Ubuntu 7.10
    • More complete than Ubuntu 7.10 (media codecs/dvd playback by default)
    • Just what I needed

To anyone considering Ubuntu Linux I would HIGHLY recommend Linux Mint instead.

Read my full review at my blog.

    Thanks

I agree. Linux Mint is the most newbie-friendly distro I've seen. Ubuntu was already good, but this is superb. However, it's not a good distribution for learning Linux as it works too much 'out of the box'. In a word, good for people who just want to use Linux and for those who have just started out; not so good for those that really want to understand it.
    Distribution: Archlinux
    Processor: 3 x Amd 64 bit
    Ram: 4 GB
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT
