My general opinions about television have been slanted by the effect it had on my mother, aunts, and on the families of my friends.

Before the television came along people knew just who their parents were. Parents knew just who their children were. Television changed all of that.

The adult males in my life, at the time, were very hostile to the undue influence coming out of the television and into their homes. I do not have to look any further than my own children and grandchildren to see the downside of constant exposure to broadcast television.

Hopalong Cassidy, Howdy Dowdy, and much of the shows I remember did show some grasp of right and wrong and morality. Those kind of shows have been relegated to the dust bins of history long ago.

I am just one person, an old person at that, who firmly believes that an element of our humanity has been removed, over the years, by the negative influence of commercial television!
