How do I share this with others?
When I started using fluxbox, I couldn't get the fbdesk icons to respond reliably to my double-clicks. And unlike gnome, fluxbox doesn't seem to offer the option of using single clicks instead. So I wrote a little program to put up a buttonbar, allowing me single-click access to my favorite apps.
At first everything was wired in but now it takes its data from a configuration file like any other respectable Linux program. I like to do specific things on different named workspaces and using different config files gives me a customised buttonbar for each workspace.
I find this so useful that I would like to make it available to others. I've had a lot of help from the Linux community over the last few years and I'd like to give something back. Obviously gnome- and KDE-users don't need anything of this sort but it could be useful for anyone using a simpler window manager.
But I have no idea how to go about such a thing. All the tarballs that I have downloaded have been very sophisticated with complicated configure and make scripts, special packaging for Debian users and the Lord only knows what else! All I've got at the moment is a file of c-code and a simple makefile. I'd need to have someone hold my hand.
I suppose the first step is to get the program beta-tested. Could someone on the forum do that for me if I PM'd him the code?"I'm just a little old lady; don't try to dazzle me with jargon!"
