Any desktop oriented distro (Ubuntu, Fedora, Suse etc.) will do it, as long as samba is installed during installation.

Edit:
I must correct my self a little. Any distro (not only desktop oriented) will talk to windows as long as Samba packages are installed and smb service is running.

I never installed it, but since it is still Ubuntu with KDE on top, it should work just fine. Just make sure that Samba packages will be installed, or you'll need to install them later your self.
