ScreenSaver Porn!
Hey Everybuddy!
I know a lot of you have read my post on Web content Filtering for children. I had to activate my screen saver with a password so that our son can't use my PC unattended. Well, just last night we we're watching TV in the other room and my Wife came into our Computer room for something or another and just happened to glance at my screen saver and there was PORN on my Display. I mean up close photos that included penetration. D'OH
I had my screensavers set to random, and it took me a long time to find the offending screen saver. Well, come to find out, it was a screen saver named Web Collage, (part of Kscreensavers or KDE screensavers)and when you enter the "setup mode" it issues a warning about how it connects to the 'net and fetches "random web pages" and displays the graphics from those pages, which may include porn.
So this is just my way of warning the other nice folks that might not like this idea. I'm not a porn hater or anything trust me, but we were actually shocked that a screen saver would do this without warning you first.
Apparently I'm not the only person who noticed this.
How do I turn the porn screensaver off? [solved] - MandrivaUsers.orgLast edited by MikeTbob; 03-02-2008 at 08:28 AM. Reason: Added Linky

Wow, that's assinying! I really wish that crap didn't exist. I really do. I mean, I am a guy, and obviously, guys have their moments. At the very least, I wish it wasn't so easily accessible. Anyway, that's enough out of me.... this is a linux forum site, not a morality forum site.

Porn shouldn't be that easily available. I think that kids today
should have to get their porn the way we did when I was a lad.

Hi, MikeTbobWell, come to find out, it was a screen saver named Web Collage, (part of Kscreensavers or KDE screensavers)and when you enter the "setup mode" it issues a warning about how it connects to the 'net and fetches "random web pages" and displays the graphics from those pages, which may include porn.
I've gotta tell you... I'd be very worried about letting my computer ever fetch anything randomly off the interent. Hope you get this all worked out to your satisfaction.oz

That's why I posted this thread, mostly to warn other that this thing could be dangerous/harmful to your health. Especially when your spouse thinks it's just porn on your computer!hehe And of course many people have small children who just don't need to see this stuff. It has been disabled as of now, I haven't removed it yet, because I don't really know which package it came with. Kscreensaver, Xscreensaver or just the KDE Built-in screensavers.
