My name is Rog, I live SW of Chicago , and having been a faithful contributor to Mr. Gate's BILLIONS for the last ten years, I have decided to give linux a try, and bought 10 different version off Ebay and have been having an blast loading and trying to use the different versions. I've reached the conclusion that Mr. Gates and company might want to pay closer attention to what the free source community is doing. Because they are on the right path. I'm hooked so far. My biggest problem is learning the command lines to get certain programs installed, or actually learn the use of the console period, which will broaden my use of linux. With that said, using the different distro's is like choosing a car to buy. What suits your fancy and your needs. At this moment I'm running PCLOS on this machine and Freespire on my older machine and they work great. But there is more fun to be had, and I want to try a bunch of 'em. Well it's time to head to work. I'm out here, and will be around on a regular basis. So as "Johnny 5" so elequintly said it, I need Imput! Thanks All, Rog

Welcome, rgr minton. Nice to have you on board! Out of curiosity:

and bought 10 different version off Ebay
Why do this? Most versions of Linux are free.
    Distribution: Archlinux
    Processor: 3 x Amd 64 bit
    Ram: 4 GB

At the time I made the decision to try the linux distro's again both my desktops were down, one due to motherboard self retirement, the second due to virus and trojan infections since I wasn 't aware of anti-virus subscription expiration, both machines having CD-DVD burners in them and could'nt use. I have 2 IBM thinkpads that I personally have been using myself for the last year or so, but neither have burners. It was only $13 with shipping so that wasn't too unreasonable. I eventually will purchase a burner and some exrta hardrives for my T30 to work with. I also have a T21 that my eldest son used when he was in Iraq, and I want to upgrade the processor to a 1 gig and load up a linux os just for fun. I have both desktops back online and I found a couple of small hardrives to put in them and I will run both $$XP$$ and a Linux distro on seperate drives to try and convert the rest of the family! And I will be dowloading from now on. I'm done rambling now and need to go horizontal. Thanks for you question, Rog

Yes, I agree with this. Start small and progress gradually and gently. Linux takes a bit of getting used to when you've been faithful to uncle Bill for the past ten years!
