Here are some IRC client options for those that might be interested:

xchat (a very popular GUI client)

    konversation (KDE's GUI chat client)

irssi (a command line oriented client for use in the terminal or console)

    b i t c h X (another command line client)

Note that one or more of these might already be installed on your system. If they aren't and you want them, you can probably install them through your default package manager.

    Edit Oops... the b i t c h X link doesn't work because of language filtering on this site, but it's at b i t c h X.com, without the spaces.

Xchat is pretty good... A lot more sophisticated than it appears at first.

Yeah and if anyone says xchat or konversation isn't as 'leet' as irssi you can ask them why they aren't constructing the TCP/IP packets by hand

BitchX is a bit bloated, from my experience. Irssi is the way to go as far as command line clients are concerned.

(And no, I don't have to manufacture TCP/IP packets to prove I'm leet. Bypassing the profanity filter is good enough for me. )
