    Linux Mint for me; all the way!!

    Dude, it's the truth! I love Linux Mint. I can't live without it. 9 months of searching for that "distro for me" and I finally found it. Now, I am a KDE fan, so I of course had to pick up the KDE Edition of Mint 4.0; but come now, do we really fret of DM's? haha... Anyway, My laptop is fried (as many of you know from helping me with hardware issues since January). So I bought a new one from Dell. The most powerful computer I will have ever owned. Probably just keep Vista on it. (BOOOOOO!!!!!).... Yeah well, I agree. I just don't want to mess with a brand new computer.
    So en lieu of this decision, I wiped the other distros off my Linux box and just went mainstream Mint. Anyway, to bring this thread to a close, Mint is for me! If anyone is new to Linux, or a familiar friend looking for a new distro to seriously check out, I definitely recommend Mint. KDE or GNOME are equally good. Just decide which you want based on your own personal DM preference.

    Using Linux since June 2007
    Distros: Mint 12
    SPECS: AMD Atholon 64 X2 5400+, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800 GTS

    Me too loved Mint.I had installed 3.0.
    It's really a polished distro.
    Now i want to install Fedora 8.

    I have just installed mint, the KDE version. So far I like it.

    Yeah man, that is a safe way to go every time. The older, more polished distro. Right on!

    I've been curious for a while and just recently decided to go for it, so no, I didn't
    decide based on your thread. Great coincidence though

    Will it be the distribution that I stick with? I don't know as I have the attention
    span of a mayfly on amphetamine so I keep swapping about. I have pretty much
    decided that I like the distributions that have sprung from Debian. I will have to
    have a go at Debian again (last time I didn't have time to spend getting
    everything installed) at some point. Maybe in a VM to start with.

    Oh-ho Elija, I've said it to you before and I'm saying it again: you are definitely a 'pure' Debian/Slackware sort of a guy! The Easter holidays are on us, I reckon it's time for you to try again! Mint is good, true, but you don't get that 'I'm getting my hands dirty' feeling that you do with Debian.

    HAHAHAHAHA Great point!!

    Ubuntu = newbies
    Mint = average/seasoned users
    Fedora/Gentoo/Debian = experts!

    The next step is to be like Devils_casper.... cause then you're a God.

    And you won't get that far if you're using Mint! But yeah, I agree: Mint is one of the best developments in recent times: it might help more people to get on their feet with Linux. The more people we convert, the weaker Windows will become.
