Just wanted to know if anyone had seen this, maybe get some opinions.
I found this looking through the wine user guides, Frontpage - ReactOS Website seems like some of the gamers here might be interested. Although, since it is similar to windows, wouldn't it be just as vulnerable to all that malicious stuff floating around out there? Comments? Opinions?

ReactOS is an old project, though it seems quite active. Instead of being an alternative implementation of theWindows API in top of linux and xlibs, it aims to be a complete implementation of a new OS that is fully compatibly at binary level with Windows. Which means that they intend to give full suport for everything (yes, drivers included). The problem is that it's long since they started, and it's nowhere near usable for gaming purpose yet.
Both projects (wine and reactos) give and take back some code from the other, they even share some developers, so the relation is symbiotic, and very beneficial for both of them.
You can see the status for some stuff here:
ReactOS Support Database - Compatibility
Even most stuff there doesn't work I think (it's been long since the last time I tried).
However, they whole project deserves a lot of merit, and it's certainly something to keep an eye over.

That would be a hard thing to foresee. I am not expert in ReactOS, and have only used it out of curiosity, though I keep an eye on new and such.
The only official statement is that 0.3.5 is scheduled for April, 0.4.x will also be alpha versions. 0.5.x has no date, and by that version, ReactOS is supposed to enter on the beta stage.
So, this will take a long long time.
It's a very interesting product from many perspectives, like OS design, and as pillar for wine. But from a production point of view, I don't think ReactOS has much to offer now, and it will take some years before this reaches an usable status for general purpose.
It might be completely of partially usable for some things, but it's far from complete for *general* usage as a substitute for Windows.
I am not related to the project and I have zero authority to speak about schedules. I can only tell you that, based on my experience with similar projects in the past, we will surely have to wait a few years.
