    Just ordered new build parts...

    Woo-hoo!
I just pulled the trigger on an order from Newegg. All new system components to replace the rig that was lost in the fire. The only thing not new will be the case. (I had a full tower stored at my bro's place.) I originally was going to go with a Core 2 quad, but decided to hold my techno-lust in abeyance for today, so I can justify that über-rig later this year. I opted instead, for a phenom/AMD780 mobo combination.

Do you think it would be too cliche' to dub it "Phoenix"?

p.s. I also ordered one piece of software... the old standby, Morrowind III TES, GOTY Ed. I just had to see how it runs on Wine in a newer box.

Great game. I successfully ran it in WINE recently. The only issue I had was it tended to freeze when I tried to change my keyboard configuration. Other than that, it ran quite well.

lol TES III GOTY was my only christmas present from last year. ^,^

And I think you've chosen a perfect title. I am curious as to what you will call your next "über-rig"; perhaps something about a dragon or a buddha lion?

Dragon or buddha lion...? Yes... both are worthy. The buddha lion would be appropriate for a firewall or an über-rig. The Dragon would be an excellent choice for an über-rig. Consider your suggestion accepted.

Regarding Morrowind... did you ever run into any issues with the main quest failing to progress after you took out Dagoth Ur? Also, do you have any TC (total conversion) recommendations? THX!

Well, once, when I had found a way to cheat, I beat Dagoth Ur without completing any of the story line, but I think that's about it. But it's been so long since I've really played it that I can't recall that much about it.
As for TC mods, I'm not much into modding to begin with (I am a fan of modding, just not a user). I've heard of a Middle Earth mod and a couple of other projects for it, but never seen any in practice.

    Why not.

My macintosh machine is named Pandora, my server is named Anastasia, and my linux machine is named horst-tla (don't ask, don't tell) ... and my other Mac is named Charlotte

Interesting. When given a hostname prompt I don't generally follow any particular pattern. The names I've given some of my boxes in the past range from cheesy to indecipherable:

    The Black Death
    DoomBox
    MBP010307
    LTP010208
    Mobuntu

I usually name mine after computers from Sci Fi. Currently I have

    Andromeda
    Orac
    Zen
    Slave
    Aivas

    (and of course) Computer

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

I like your scheme --especially "computer" ^,^

I've never taken to naming computers except for the few I can actually call my own (and network...), which i use my pseudo-umbrella corporation Dragon Corp. UTD (Or sometimes I'll forget the corp and put "DRAGONUTD" but that can be read as "dragon nutted") with some sort of numeric reference at the end, such as 314, 272, or, in this case, 010 (binary for the third computer with this scheme). Once I start actually owning and networking computers I'll name them more rigidly, but 'till then it doesn't really matter to me.
