Ubuntu on an iMac G5
Hello all,
I have long been interested in Linux, in fact I have Ubuntu 7.04 running on an old PC but now I want to try it on my main machine, an iMac G5 2GHz.
I figured if I came into this "Club Room" there might be someone who could direct me to others who have done this so I can find out about potential problems before they trip me. I have lots of room on the Hard drive and I also have bootable back-up on an external Hard drive where there is also extra space if I want it. I have a CD of Ubuntu 7.04 and have run it off the optical drive where it boots up and seems to be OK but ... before I start partitioning and reformatting (Is that required?) I want to hear the voice of experience.
Is there a group or a sub-group for Mac users here?

First of all, make sure that your 7.04 disc is the PowerPC version. The regular X86 PC version won't work. However I don't have much more experience than that so I'll direct you to some threads I found by searching our forum:

Thanks techieMoe,
Several of those links are quite helpful in finding others with experience.
