Very cool. Let's try not to get cocky about it though.

Seeing the macbook cracked in two minutes, though, was the most gratifying...oh, so trendy, oh, so safe, you don't even need anti-virus or network security

I going to brag about this to everybody who laughs at me (in a loving way) for using Linux!!

"Just get a Mac, Kev."

"Mac is all you need to stay safe."

"Mac is way better."

*EDIT*
While I am partial to Linux, it should be noted that Windows and Mac have worked really hard to optimize their products. Though I am not the biggest fan of Vista, a lot of hard, honest work went into that kernel and there is still a lot of credit to be handed out. I think Mac has done a wonderful job at trying to create computers that are very user-friendly for as many people as possible. Any comment I have ever made to the contrary was mostly out of friendly sarcasm to my friends who enjoy the fun competition of whose computer is better.

lol I heard about that. Even showed it off a little... I think it good (fun) news.
I thought I might mention, though, that the guy who hacked the Mac basically went in there just for that. I think the "cooler" thing is that the guys that hacked the Vista box weren't expecting to go up against it, but succeeded anyways.

Let's keep the bashing to a minimum folks. This is a neat article and I don't want to have to lock the thread discussing it. That means Apple, Vista, whatever.

Yeah but!

I have read about this in several different places and one thing I was wondering is, if Adobe Flash was used to break into the Windows Machine, doesn't that hack/exploit exist on a Linux machine with Flash installed?
basically, If Windows Flash is exploitable, isn't Linux Flash exploitable too?

That's a good point. However it's also possible that even if the same exploit exists in Linux the folks at this conference simply didn't know how to make use of that exploit. What I mean is even if a Swedish spy makes his way into the CIA archives, it doesn't help him if he can't read English.

(Bad example, I know. The only Swede I've ever known personally was actually quite fluent in English... *and* Swedish. Says something about my country's educational system.)

One of the other articles I read about this contest said that the folks attending were focusing on the Mac and Vista boxes almost exclusively, so I'm interested to see if someone puts on another show like this where the expressed purpose is to find Linux bugs. I like the ethical way Tipping Point handled it; they made sure the vendor had a chance to fix it before they released the details.

Lo siento if I was out of line --I was just commenting on the ingenuity used in the Vista hack versus the cookie-cutter Mac hack. Nothing was meant against the OSes.

I was actually referring to SkittleLinux18's comments, not yours.
