    April Fools...

I've been looking around for different celebrations of one of my favorite holidays, and, although there hasn't been many pranks actually pulled that I've seen, here is a dandy list of "Pranks for Nerds." I especially like the Newton Virus....

Anyways, please link and/or comment on past/present April 1st "celebrations" for my own greedy satisfaction. ^,^

    LOL! That's hilarious!

We've had great fun with April Fool's jokes over the years at my radio station. The one still talked about is when we fooled many people into believing we had changed music format. We signed on at 6:00 AM on April 1st and said our new call letters were "WBOR" which stood for "Buck Owens Radio!" Our "new" tag line was "All Buck All The Time." That's all we played for four straight hours. Some listeners got really angry and called in with vicious remarks which we of course put on the air. We even had some calling in to say they loved it and to keep doing it! At 10:00 AM, we let everyone in on the joke, but we sure had a good time with it. Lol...

There was a thing on the radio here this morning and I'm still trying to figure out if it was a sketch or not. There was a scandal here last year where a prison inmate called into a radio talk show from his mobile phone which lead to uproar and investigations across the country.

This morning on "Jim-Jim's Dad", a phone-in competition it transpired that one of the callers was in prison. There was quite a heated argument and things got out of hand resulting in them hanging up on the guy. Then the next guy ended up refusing to partake because he was disgusted with how the prisoner was treated. Maybe it wasn't real but it was the funniest thing I've heard in ages!

EDIT - Here it is, turns out it was a prank after all! The goodness kicks in around 2mins40

The BBC news today featured a great shot from Antarctica - a 'rare' breed of penguins discovered that could fly. I don't know how they faked the shot of a whole bunch of them flapping along to a take-off, but it was a post-production special.

That's hilarious ozar, Gentoo has a bit of an April Fools joke mixed in with real news. They released Gentoo 2008.beta1 with this announcement.

A migration to RPM was carefully considered again for this release, but in the end we decided to wait for the few remaining RPM-using distributions to migrate to the superior packaging format of ebuilds.
