Post hello from a Ubuntu noob

Hello forum,
So I have decided to take the Linux plunge. I decided on Ubuntu because it seemed like the best way to get started. It's been going moderately well so far. I am impressed by several things to do with Ubuntu, but also very fed up with some other things. I am having huge problems getting my wireless adapter to be recognized. I have also had problems with my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard combo. I haven't even hazarded to TRY the printer yet. I'm working on the whole music thing. I'm not sure if I'll ever get used to using the Terminal.

Anyway, you'll probably see me posting about the above problems. I'm also around the Ubuntu forums as well.

Hello, Welcome to Linux Forums!
I believe that you made a good choice wit Ubuntu,I started with SimplyMepis then Ubuntu and now I've moved to Debian.
I'm not very familiar with wireless or Bluetooth so I can't comment on them, but your printer should be easy to set up if it is supported.
I'll see ya around the forums!

Hi and welcome!

I don't know much about USB wireless adapters, but Bluetooth shouldn't be to much of a problem. It usually Just Works(TM). Have you installed the BlueZ package (or did Ubuntu include this in the install)??

Just look in the add/remove software entry and search for 'blue'. That should get you started.

Printing is a bit different in Linux. You use your browser as interface. Try clicking the link below when the printer is plugged in to your machine and turned on.
cPanelŽ <=link to printer

Freston:

I already have the BlueZ package installed. It appears in my taskbar. I just have no idea how to use it, or why it can see my mouse but cannot connect it, and it just doesn't see the keyboard.

I am trying the printer thing now. It seems to have worked, although I won't know until I test it.

Hiya miss_machine!

I know we already met, since I'm trying to help you get that pesky wireless working, I just thought a proper greeting was in order.
