Keyboard headache

Hi, I'm using KDE, but I didn't manage to use normally xkb so far.
In Control Panel I have xkb-options and very promising "Layout switching" chapter, but when I try to assign Left Shift+Left Ctrl to it, I'm getting less than a farting as result. I have the same efficiency with other suggested key sequences too. Strangely, I can assign € sign to Right Shift+"e". What's wrong?

I believe Shift|Ctrl|Alt|Win need some additional key to function.

Maybe if you assign Lshift+Lctrl+z or something similar?? Or did you try something like that?
