Hi all guys ,
Iam a new member in this froum which i'd like to get/give useful informations
Iam a telecommunications engineer and i've recently decided to practice with linux, what's the suitable edition to me(my job) as for servers and networking??
I've install Redhat(fedora Core 4) is it ok for getting on with linux
also i've the package of Mandrake 10.1 if it's better than red hat i can install it

The Linux distribution that is best for you is entirely up to you and your hardware. Just download a few Live CDs and give them a go, you will soon find a distribution you like.Linux User #453176

We can't tell you which Linux distro is best for you. You can install any package in any distro. I would suggest you to try as many as you can and decide yourself.
Btw, Fedora Core 4 is very old and not supported by Fedora Team now. Try Fedora 8 or CentOS.
Check these Polls on Fav Desktop and Server Distros. Check the link in my signature too. I will get you going.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Thanks to all for welcoming me in to the forum,
And regarding my edition of Red Hat Fedora 4, i know it's old but i can't get any new version now so can i try for now with this edition or shall i get new edition first?Last edited by devils casper; 04-10-2008 at 08:08 AM.

You might face Hardware/software problems in Fedora Core 4. Use it untill you get latest version.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
