Smile The Sun Breakthrough & A Funny Note

I was in my moods, thinking, "Yeah, Linux will never make it." Only I forgot that I had been thinking that while web surfing and blogging on my Linux system. (I actually forgot I was not on my Mac.) So that's pretty good, if an operating system fades totally into the background for a while and you're spending most of your time really using it.

Hey, did you hear about the Sun breakthrough, they're announcing Ubuntu compatible with their hardware in an official way. (Hmm, collecting more endorsements every day. I'm going for the Obama-Ubuntu ticket.)

Yep, it's a good thing. Makes me realize how much other operating systems intrude on my workflow, even when I've just adapted to handle it.

That's mad, Ubuntu previously had a SPARC specific release for Sun hardware. They announced that they were dropping support and wouldn't release a SPARC Hardy Heron release. I wonder if this is to bring back the SPARC version...or is it their AMD machines you're referring to?

The articles I've read say they're talking about X86 machines, not SPARC.
