Cool Newbie looking for a TS to work with MS SBS2003

Hi All

I haven't ever played with Linux but been threatening to due to rising Microsoft costs and lack of reliability (much like most people I would imagine). I have had a situation with a couple of client which I have use a work-around but I need a better solution...

We have Microsoft Small business Servers 2003 in a few clients but they need quicker remote access instead of a 10second to 4 minute wait for a file to open. Licensing for an MS terminal server is becoming a really expensive option.

SO... what I need advice on is...
...Terminal Server software that is easy for a numpty like me to setup and maintain and that will interact with SBS and what sort of spec machine it needs to sit on.
...Client TS software that can sit on MS Vista Biz and MS Win XP Pro machines.

Hopefully I haven't posted this in the wrong area but all help will be really appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Geese

Thanks for your reply. Basically they need to access word, excel and powerpoint documents, run an accounts package (Sage) and also be able to save locally and on the server so syncronisation would be a big plus.

Cheers

Okay, there is Terminal Services for Linux - Ltsp but it will (from my understanding) only run linux apps.

As for the Microsoft Stuff, this is probably the wrong forum for the answers that you are looking for.

If you are looking to cut cost there are many linux software and vendors that can help you achieve this (OpenOffice, . .Does Sage have a linux version?).
