I can't agree or disagree because I don't understand what you're saying. Could you rephrase it?

i think what he's trying to ask is if computers make more things easy that should not be done than should be done, like if they facilitate more illegal or legal things, but thats just my interpretation

Well, that legal/illegal didn't tend to come into my mind. But this is from everyday life. Most of my friends would spend hours on instant messengers (thanks God I got rid of that habit myself). And all in vain. Yours is a good idea that they *do* facilitate illegal tasks as well. I am not going in detail but I saw many of my friends abusing and that were the only words they say to each other. Some use internet for the sole purpose of chatting. That explains it, doesn't it?

Not at all. If that could be it, then I shouldn't have joined LinuxForums.org. Just try to think a bit more on the tasks you do on computer (chatting for fun, many junk emails, moreover, fun and games) are useless.

Ok. I'm still trying to grasp what you're saying. Are you saying that computers allow us to do a great many things, both productive and not productive?

From what I can tell, is that he is saying people shouldn't spend so much time on the computer because he thinks it is wasting time.

But, from another perspective, people usually have to be entertained, whether it is going outside, shopping, watching tv/movies, or you guessed it, playing on the internet.

These same people may think that what you do is wasting time. If everyone had that idea, then Linux may have never been thought of. It certainly wouln't be in the same place it is today. A lot of people that sit in front of their computer reading newsgroups and chatting through email back and forth worked on Linux in the beginning (and still do) so it has come a long way.

So if I choose to sit here and chat on my computer all day long, that is my choice, and has no impact on your life really. You choose to do other things.

It all comes down to entertainment. Just do what you like, and leave well enough alone.

Oh, and playing games on your computer usually increases your hand-eye coordination and attention span.
