    Perfect Date!!

I printed up a copy of this article:

Linux: Sexy, Smart, and Cheap. The Perfect Date. | Linux Journal

and brought it to the branch manager of my bank who I have been telling about Linux for over a year. When I got home I had an email from him finally expressing his interest. I replied to his email with a link to Ubuntu's website so he could order a disk of their OS.

I figured if this article finally made him see the light it might help others.

There was a pretty obvious typo in his link.

    This one works just fine.

    Thanks Coopstah13!!
    Thanks Smolloy!!

Old eyes and old finders do not a typist make.
I could not find the mistake so I deleted the whole url and typed it in again. It works now.

Someday I'm going to have to ask my banker what part of the article got to him. Like me, he has spent a fortune installing software onto his computer trying to protect his windows xp os without success.

You'd written one of the hyphens as a dot. Cut and paste might help avoid problems like that. You know in linux you can simply highlight some test, and then middle click where you'd like to paste that text (or click right and left mouse buttons at the same time if you don't have a middle button). You don't need to type ctrl-c or anything, as you have to in windows.

Sorry if you already know that!

I'd be really interested in hearing that as well.

Smolloy, of all of the LinuxForum members I am pretty sure I am the most computer illiterate. My mouse has a wheel in the middle that I thought could only be used for scrolling up or down.

I'm sure you are aware of how human beings just abhor giving up and admitting they were wrong or incapable of overcoming a problem. I had even gotten to the point in windows that I was going into the registry to delete files of spyware programs. Some of those programs would just migrate to another file like it was alive. The only sure way to get rid of all of them was a harddrive reformat.

My banker, like me, has endured a lot of computer pain in the past and I am sure sometime in the future, when he is safely using Linux on the Internet, he will thank me for persistently telling him to give up using windows online.

It may seem a little spaced-out but it feels like I have finally saved him from drowning.

If that wheel can also be clicked just like a regular mouse button, then you should be able to use it to paste. Like I said, use your mouse to highlight the text you want to copy, and then middle-click where you want to copy that text to.

    Easy

I've got a link I'd like to share here. One of the things I really like about it is that it's translated into several languages - and the arguments are really convincing. In fact, I like the presentation and the content of this site so much that I have clickable Tux on all my emails which sends anyone interested to it.
