    Hello, I'm Andy!

    Hello all!

I'm totally new here and pretty new to Linux. I have chosen Ubuntu as my distro of choice and am working on setting up a web server so I can host my web site from home.

I work as the Chief Engineer (grand title for a dead end job!) for two small hotels in the heart of Amish country in central Ohio (USA). I have a passion for web design and have taught myself a lot over the past few years. I have a site up and running at: WCTA Electronics where I sell surplus electronic components. (electronics being another of my many passions!) I am the kind that likes to learn things from the most basic concepts up so when I started learning web design I didn't use any of the web designing software programs available but instead learned all the languages I needed and I now write all my own code from scratch using Notepad++ which is one of the greatest free tools I have ever found!

Anyway, I'm 33, very happily married with 2 wonderful children. I am a Christian and attend a Baptist church faithfully. I am into (besides computers and electronics) model trains, old books, old board games, camping, traveling and a lot more! (I always have something to keep me occupied!)

If you are into MySpace swing by and say "HI" at My Profile.

Anyway, I'm sure that was more information than you really wanted but hey, It said to introduce myslef! So I did!

    Have a great day!
    Andy

Welcome to the forums Andy !

Hope you enjoy your time here. It sounds like you will be dishing out advice on coding in no time. Based on what you have told us we can expect you to have Ubuntu sorted fairly quickly.

If you like a build from scratch take a look at Linux From Scratch when you get some spare time! Good luck with the web server.
