    my laptop is a compaq presario c700,has a broadcom wlan 1390 card
    i use debian
    i installed the windows driver bcmwl6.inf and it went ok.
    but i have no idea where to go from thea
    my card switch isnt workin i.e it doesnt go on and of(but in windows it does)
    any ideas??

    Do you have the NIC configured?
    go to /sbin and type
    ifconfig
    does the NIC have an IP address?

    When you say you installed the Windows driver, did you do it using ndiswrapper? If so, did you follow the instructions on the Ndiswrapper site for what to do after the driver is installed? Namely:
    Code:
    depmod -a
    modprobe wlan0
    lsmod
    The last to see if ndiswrapper is present?
