Just so you know, Tiger Direct has better computers at lower prices (generally). And they have sales on a regular basis. Also, I'd go with 1GB. If it's easy to upgrade the RAM, buy a 512 MB and then another chip at best buy. You'll save even more.

The only reason I wouldn't go with the Hp is that I prefer 15'' screens. 17'' seems too large for a laptop for me. My pavilion works great with linux btw
